The BDF has some great moments and threads, it just takes some effort to find them.
I think 'is it a sin to wear pants' is still the best one.

I've had my disagreements with Zoii, but I hope I've never disrespected her.
You're a great guy. Everyone likes you.

I know what you are saying. It is repulsive to see a child's spirit broken.

This thread is so full of hypocrisy. People patting themselves on the back for not being like*that.*

"I'm not as self-rightous as you, na-na-na"

What some people don't understand is that everyone gets accused of being self-righteous as a Christian. It comes with the territory. It was the very first thing I noticed after being converted.*

*****************************

Thats a load.

YOU have said some very nasty things to me personally because I speak in tongues and believe the Holy Spirit is not just an addendum that the authors of scripture GUIDED by the same Holy Spirit almost forgot to add

You are dismissive to anyone who rejects your personal interpretation YOU..

Take a look at your first post in this thread. That's you all the way

You and your gang almost constantly call others hypocrite or blasphemer

and you quote scripture...what a crock

At least be honest. My first interaction with you was you jumping all over me in a very uncalled for way and completely out of the blue with you and your buddies calling me names. You exhibit the same behavior towards others all the time. I was pretty nasty with you after that encounter and several others, yes. Am I sorry for my reactions (which took a while to build up btw)? Yeah maybe some of them. Not all of them. You come across as a hateful individual in many of your posts with no sense of humility - only your queen of all attitude where no one else is allowed to disagree. Again, we all are guilty of this at times, but for a while there it was never ending with you. You attacked viciously anyone who disagreed with you. My response to your behavior had nada to do with you speaking in tongues or believing in sign gifts. So try not to misrepresent me when you are gonna attempt to call me out on something.

If I may say so, Txroads, one of the neatest things about your posts is that your southern drawl and mannerisms show through in all your writing (tipping of the hat, etc.) That's just plain cool.

I grew up in the North and unfortunately, there is nothing special about the way I talk--it's rather bland and generic. (I have a personal fascination with the different ways people speak--it's like music to me.)

My former pastor's wife was from Alabama, and due to years of ridicule while living in the North, had worked hard to try to erase most signs of her accent, which I thought was tragic.

There are days I've considered moving to the South, just to be able to hear the way people speak there all the time.

(I realize this is a bit off-topic but I'd been wanting to say something about this for a while.)

Let me explain myself a little better then and shed a little light.... So far everybody that has posted on this thread is pretty much level headed enough that they know you respond to someone on the same level that they are on when you feel the need to "advise" them that something they said might need a little correcting.......
BUT WHAT YOU DON'T DO IS GANG UP ON A 15 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL BY A 70 YR OLD, A 40 YR OLD AND HOWEVER OLD THE OTHER ONE WAS!!!!!!!!!....... SHE'S 15 AND OBVIOUSLY JUST NEED A LITTLE DIRECTION AND NOT A FLOGGING!!!!..... Her words " I'm going to delete my account.. I just wanted a little advise and was hoping I could find a Christian friend or two on here because they are hard to find out here"!!!!!!!!.........REALLY!!!..... REALLY!!.... DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A BIG MAN NOW!!!!..... Ggrrrrrrr....... We still got hanging trees in Texas pardon my french!!!
Since I think I am the only one on here who is 70, I guess you are talking about me. Could I ask you to point out this thread?

If its little Zoii, she pm' d me a few times thanking me for being nice to her...a long time back....we should be thankful for the opportunity to help anyone

But thats not what goes on

Ive been bullied and badgered recently..as most prob know..I dont know why the mods dont stop it. ..its against the TOS

There will always be disagreements but the arrogance here is exhibited by maybe half a dozen

I cant stand the Bible bullies in here

THAT'S IT I'VE DONE HAD IT AND I'M GONNA SPEAK MY MIND!!... THAT'S IT.... I'VE HAD IT WITH ALL THESE SELF-RIGHTEOUS POMPAS INDIVIDUALS WHO THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE THEY CAN SPEAK TO FOLKS ANY WAY THEY WANT AND THEN WANT TO HIDE BEHIND SCRIPTURE TO VALIDATE THEIR ARROGANCE!!!!.... You show me just one place in Scripture where Jesus "showed out" his knowledge of the Father to ANYONE not including the pharese or saudese..... ANYWHERE...... He never did!!... Did he walk into town swinging at the tax collectors or did he belittle the Samaritan woman at the well!!!!... Or the harlot in the street!!!....NO!!.... GET OFF YOUR SANCTIMONIOUS PEDALSTALS AND REALIZE THE PEOPLE YOU ARE TALKING TOO!!!..... Daggummit I ain't lost my temper like this in a while!!!!!

Keep your cool Tex, I'll send you over some of our cold and wet weather, that will help . I don't know what posts etc you are refering to and its seems the person wasnt that young after all, however, that doesn't excuse how all of us behave at times. There is nothing wrong with good strong debate - unfortunatly typed wods can come across wrong and as someone else mentioned, add in different cultures and its a real mixed pot of trying to understand what someone actually means or is saying. We should all take note, take stock, sit back and think more before responding (note to self).

As I've said before, most of the worst debates tend to be on secondary and tertiary issues that are made as if they are primary.

Anyhow, getting back to your post. We should remember to take note of someones age (if we know it). Personally, I think if the girl was 15 then I don't think this or any online forum is a safe place to get spiritual advice..we should be pointing them back to their parents, youth leader,Pastor, aunt, uncle someone who they know and knows' them who is a Christian. There is also the youth forum they can go to. Thats just my opininon, someone of that age needs real spiritual care and not from armchair theologians ;) . So Tex has brought up a couple of critical points - check someones age before you start helping/debating. Check our behaviour (that doesnt mean we can't have robust debate). I do also believe that some times a sharp rebuke is required!

I post regular on another forum

..you get banned if you are consistently wanting to discuss a person instead of the topic

Its a slower site..because people THINK before they call others blasphemer or stupid or ignorant

Do I get steamed? Well you know I do!

I have had my marriage made fun of...even though the self appointed prophet that did that knows nothing about me.

That same person then went on to say that GOD told him to 'take me on'

He then DENIES saying that...I provide proof...anyone can read it .... and he simply denies it again and continues his vulgar posts addressed to me

This is a sample...The same has been done to others BECAUSE we disagreed with what they said...that's all...we simply disagreed

I think you have to be some kind of nut job to post with the intention of trying to hurt or get another banned

The constant excuse for calling names or saying someone is not a Christian is to arrogantly state Jesus or Paul did it too

What a bunch of steaming what the bull did in the field

Futher...dont say just let God take care of it

If you see the bullying...CALL IT OUT...dont mouth platitudes. ..do something about it

Husband: Oh look, honey! The tragi-comedy Christians Making Fools of Themselves is on again tonight. Wanna watch it?

Wife: Sure. It's a bit repetitive, but I always need to be reminded not to take myself so seriously. I'll make up some popcorn.

Tx, the bible forum is the most rudest, bigoted, strife-filled, hateful forum on the entire site. It is filled with slurs and insults, name-calling and strife, and all sorts of snide and snotty remarks. We are ALL appalled at the atmosphere in here, and lotsa people talk about how we need to conduct ourselves better, but they never actually put it into practice, themselves. When newbies come on here, we tell them that if they plan on entering this forum, they'd better have full body armor on. Sounds funny but it's true, because this forum truly is like a mine field. My best advice to you is to put the people who bother you, on ignore to preserve your sanity and what's left of your temper. :)
I'd like too.... But somebody's gotta speak up once in a while for these folks....... I'll be the still small voice in the background...... Except not so still............ And not so quiet......... And not so much in the background...... And this was probably a bad idea

I disagree totally. ANYONE regardless of whether they're 15 or 90, should be allowed to come here and ask any questions that they have, and discuss the bible, and how it applies to their life. But you're all so anxious to one-up each other, and show off, that eventually the kid feels unwelcome or stupid for even asking for help. I've seen many here make fun of some of the kids here, telling them they're too young to be in this forum, or that they're too stupid to be asking "grown up" questions. I could publicly name and shame the ones who were cruel to Zoii and scared her off, but I won't. I have wayyy more tact than that. But that is what you do. You make people feel stupid for asking questions, or needing info, and you make fun of their comments with snide, snotty remarks and quips like y'all are back in high school or something. If you're christians, prove it because I look at many of you and I don't see it. I've lost respect for MANY of you. :/

Why don't you do us all a favor and post a link to the thread you're talking about? It gets a bit old when people throw out blanket and unsubstantiated accusations. I'm not doubting you, but if we could examine the evidence we can all make reasoned judgments.
