christianriddleWell, if you write your notes instead of type them, I don’t think that it’s necessary.
PuresongOh, okay! I will use your first name, Christian. I'm so sorry, I wasn't sure if Christian was your name or if it was part of an alias. I'm Lauren by the way, if you want to use my first name.
christianriddleNo worries. I’ll use your first name, Lauren.
PuresongSo for the third vision in Zechariah 2, I'm still trying to figure out why Jerusalem is being measured. We see a similar event happened in Ezekiel 40-42, although in this case the city of Jerusalem itself is being measured instead of the Temple, and there are no precise numbers given as in Ezekiel.
PuresongI'm not sure what to do with that information, but it's interesting. With how Jerusalem is described, it seems to again be talking about the Millennium, with many people residing safely in Jerusalem and God’s Shekinah glory (the pillar/wall of fire) being among them again. This has not been fulfilled yet as far as I know at any point in history after Zechariah.
PuresongFrom what I understand, according to Ezekiel 10-11, the Shekinah glory left shortly before the destruction of Solomon’s Temple, and has not yet returned. Although if you come to a different conclusion about that, please let me know, I'd be very curious to hear a different view.
PuresongThe second part of the vision (Zechariah 2:6-9) seems to be God calling the Jews to come out of Babylon who had stayed behind during the migration back to Jerusalem (Ezra 1:4-5), or it could be a figurative expression for God calling apostate Jews to leave the ways of Babylon and follow Him.
PuresongThen God offers another promise that the nations which had besieged them will fall.
PuresongThe third and final part of the vision (Zechariah 2:10-13) is particularly interesting since we see an overlooked verse which shows that Gentiles will be joined to God and become His people. (Zechariah 2:11) The rest of the vision seems to be another promise of God reassuring that in His return He will claim and choose Jerusalem to be His holy city again.
PuresongThat's a summary of what I had for Chapter 2, what do you think?
C
christianriddleI think that your synopsis along with your commentary will aid me as I construct my notes. Thank you.
C
christianriddleI’ll review our conversation yesterday and fill in the blank spaces that I left for the previous two visions as well.
C
christianriddleWhat do you think I should title this unit of our study? I have “Zechariah: The Visions” as a placeholder at the moment.
PuresongSounds great, I'm glad that my notes are helping your own. I like it, the title seems fitting.
christianriddleSo, for these studies, what time ranges are best for you?
PuresongWell I'm in EST, and usually what works for me is anytime after around 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon. What about you?
C
christianriddleI’m usually working at 5:00 PM in EST, but we can probably study for about an hour at 4:00 PM before I go on weekdays.
PuresongOkay, if you have to go early I can continue pasting my notes for the section we're currently on so you can see them if you want. What about weekends?
