IMO the US will most likely enact some form of capital controls that effectively constitutes a selective default on debt held by foreigners. But then they won't want the balance of trade equal zero within 24h, and so will have to offer something tangible (=gold).

I grew up in Westchester so I have always known what Yorktown heights is like. To be fair to her a 500k home in that town is not your nicer homes. I grew up in a similar suburb, Larchmont, and the average price for a home in the nice part of town is 2 million. That is average.
