    Regeneration

It sounds like you may have been converted recently. Congratulations. Keep prayerfully consuming the word and stay off this site as much as possible, for a while at least, they’ll try to crucify you around here for claiming faith is a gift 😅

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

Where did Christ teach the offended spouse could remarry? Matthew 5 & 19 does not explicitly give permission for the offended spouse to remarry. However, Mark 10 and Luke 16 explicitly denies ALL remarriage which would include the offended spouse.

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

Devils advocate continued: One may be able to force a remarriage permission out of Matthew 5, 19 but Mark 10 and Luke 16 clearly shows ALL remarriage as adultery regardless of the reasoning for divorce. So in these verses Jesus clearly taught fornication only divorce with all remarriage being...

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

I know how important it is to your view that it be Moses alone giving the permission but it just isn’t true. Anyway, keep at it bud. Later 👋

You’re not thinking it though. In other words the limitation proves the permission, divorce and remarriage must occur in order to limit the original couple to remarry. Again, even permanence folks call this portion of scripture the Deuteronomic permission, because any way you twist it’s still...

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

@presidente Please take the time to think this all the way through. If Deuteronomy 24:1-3 is God simply stating an example of common practice that Moses allowed and the only limitation God places on this practice is not to remarry your original wife after she’s married another, then you still...

Agreed! But let me play devils advocate for a moment 👇 Luke 16:18 ESV Divorce and Remarriage [18] “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery. Clearly Jesus taught all remarriage is adultery.

I don’t know how to say this without coming across as smug, but it’s clear that I’ve explained beyond your current level of research. As I said before, I’m glad to discuss the leaks in my view and help your with yours, but I have no desire to argue for the sake of arguing.

No, proponents of my view aren’t Hillel’ish, they’re typically 2-4 clause permissive. Were you able to look up which of the views you most align with, permanence through liberal permissive? That’ll be helpful for you. 👍 Until you understand where you stand, it’s likely you’ll continue to...

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

@presidente “Why don't you explain it?” “ Again, I’ll let you do the research. Just google the views on divorce and remarriage, you’ll find plenty of good articles that break down the permanence-liberal views. An honest conclusion of one who forms their doctrine primarily from a literal...

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

@presidente ”Your interpretation lets a man divorce his wife for any ol' reason as long as he gives her a piece of paper, right?” You must be watching Mike Winger videos 🤣 My point exactly, you haven’t even taken the time to work through my view to the end. Just lashing out at something you...

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

Which one of the scenarios I mentioned involved fornication? None. You really should take the time to understand a view before you attempt to argue against it?

Divorce in Catholicism on grounds of adultery

Ok I give up. Jesus taught fornication only divorce and all remarriage is adultery. The pastors and elders say: Sorry Christian ladies, if your husband goes out for milk and never returns, you’re forbidden to file for divorce. Just pray he doesn’t pick up the kids from school one day and serve...
