Could Michael Tait possibly be a real christian?

Hi,

I don't know Tate or his band DC Talk, but they apparently have been very successful and famous.

I only heard about his story today and I'm shocked.

I wanted to ask you for opinions. Can this guy POSSIBLY be a true christian?!

I mean IF he had only been guilty of alcohol use, substance abuse and being gay, then

one could think that he's a christian who simply sunk very low and stayed there for a very long time (approx 20 years)

but he is also accused of touching people, possibly even drugging up people and then touching them! And even a minor boy!


If these accusations of molesting men and minor boys, then would you say that a person who does this, and not only once, could

possibly be saved and have the Holy Spirit? Would not God somehow intervene and not simply let this continue for 20 years????

This is heavy,heavy,really absolutely disgusting stuff!

I have a hard time feeling any sympathy for this guy. If it had only been drugs and being gay and if he really seemed sorry for

deceiving all his fans and people around him, then I might feel sorry for him but this way I couldn't.

Also confessing now, after he knew he had already been caught also doesn't really seem sincere.

Ya think? :confused:

I learned not to put much trust in people who have created their identity in the public eye. They tend to live two different lives: one private and one public. A double-minded person is unstable in all their ways.

All sin can be forgiven but most people do regular sins that are not too extreme when they confess being a Christian whether they stopped sinning or not.

But people that do extreme sins will have more of a hard time to change for their mind is very corrupt.

They do sins that the vast majority would find repulsive even according to the world.

Michael Tait was involved with terrible sins for 20 years and he might not really believe the truth but he found a way to make money.

He seems like he is on the level to change but that does not mean he means it for like his songs he has to have that image being in Christian music.

Tit 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

I do not know but he might not believe but found a way to have fame and fortune.

Like TV evangelists that preach the prosperity Gospel and are millionaires do they really believe or did they find a way to make money.

For how do they miss the Bible speaking the preacher is not to be in the ministry for the money.

And if they preach godliness is gain withdraw yourself from them having food and clothing be content.

For the love of money is the root of all evil for it neglects the poor and needy, and love is the fulfilling of the law, which some coveting after has erred from the faith.

And doing fake healings.

I do not know about Michael for he might have started on the level and then went the bad way.

But being in those terrible sins for 20 years while claiming to be a Christian and doing music before saying he wants to change puts doubt on him.

Like is he sorry or saying he wants to change because he is caught.

A person that is involved for 20 years in those sins does not care about the truth so how can we believe him now.

He was portraying being against those things for his time in Christian music but doing them being a liar.

There is doubt concerning him.

He was also singer for The Newsboys for many years, right up until he quit as things started growing public.
Both DC Talk and Newsboys peaked in the 90s.

Kevin Max, another member who also sang with DCTalk, as well as Audio Adrenalin, another popualr 90s band, has this on his X account...

tobyMac doesn't seem to have any major issues reported.

They eventually formed a Christian record label called Gotee Records. A few of the artists signed seemed to go secular, over time.

You know what my impression is?

I think that he's only trying to save his butt at this point in time.

He admitted inappropriately touching men and he said that what he did was sin.

What about the actual crimes he is accused of?

I think he is hoping to escape legal punishment. That's all.

I really cannot imagine that a person can be a christian and a predator at the same time and

keep doing this for a long time without the Holy Spirit convicting the person!

I really cannot imagine this. This is NOT the same as being gay or doing drugs.

Molesting people is so absolutely disgusting. I cannot imagine that a christian can do this and not

directly be terribly convicted. This is in the same league as torturing animals. It's sadistic.

I don't doubt that these molestations really happened and that he also drugged people in order to molest them.

I would be very surprised if these accusations weren't true. It's absolutely sickening!!!!

Bottom line: it is between God and that person. We the people can judge others and do, do that too. I used to and see to not do that. To not condemn anyone, trust God in God's time to do that, since by God I am forgiven, remembering this turn given
Romans 2:1-4. I am in God's mysterious plan, I do not always understand. I know CS Lewis was an Atheist and then turned and wrote much on it. Amazing Grace given him. Also, John Newton as slave trader, then to belief own the true loving God for us all, and left slave trading in the dirt, and wrote amazing grace.
Then we have Norman Greenbaum from Rock n Roll who wrote, "Spirit in the Sky"
Amazon Grace is from God and not of any works, I see this now, did not always, and am thankful to God for this love given us all to do willingly too, thank you Father and Son as won first for us all 1 John 4:18-19

What if Michael Tait is a real Christian? What would that teach you about the grace and patience of God?

Those that feel the need to pass judgment don’t have enough faith in Gods judgment so they feel compelled to pass it themselves
