Can a Christian have a demon dwelling inside of them?
Yes or no?
Whatever your position is, please support it with scripture which can then be scrutinized by everybody here in order to determine whether or not those scriptures truly say what anybody here might claim they say in context.
I trust that we all believe that Christians can be oppressed or harassed outwardly by demons, but that is not my question.
Again, can a Christian have a demon dwelling inside of them?
Yes or no?
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
A demon cannot possess a Christian.
That does not even make sense for how can a demon possess a Christian with the Spirit dwelling in them in active force.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
If our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost how can a demon be there.
How can we have salvation if a demon possesses us.
When we have the Spirit active in our life the kingdom of God is within us and there is no demon in the kingdom of God.
The Spirit active in us is God's domain so there cannot be a demon there.
2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Paul was not possessed of a demon but was buffeted an infirmity in the flesh to keep him humble.
The devil can tempt us but he cannot possess us and he cannot read our thoughts like we cannot read radio, television, phone, and internet waves with our mind.
In Paul's instance that would be rare but he had to be humble for God was using him mightily.
2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
These people did not allow the Spirit to lead them and loved pleasures more than God and did not come to the truth.
These people would seem like they could be possessed by a demon.
Which these people go to Church and believe they are alright despite them holding on to sins.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
There is no excuse.
