Within Scripture there is justification so that we may be assured that what is written in one place is Truth because in other places it is justified by being repeated.

2 Thessalonians, Chapter 2:

1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;d

This passage is actually the justification for:

Matthew, Chapter 24:

4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

I believe this is Truth because Jesus said it! For me, that will always be the only justification I need. However, given that Paul repeated it is surely justification. Why? Because Paul did not hear Jesus speak this passage. The Truth of the Gospel of Jesus was revealed to him by Jesus Himself long after His resurrection.

I am convinced there will be a "great falling away" where the "love of many shall wax cold." That is why it is so very important for all believers to hold fast to their faith and not be deceived!

I am interested in the relationship between Jesus and Paul, especially regarding inspiration.
IMO, Jesus inspired Paul's preaching and writings both directly on the way to Damascus and
indirectly via Paul's acquaintance with Peter.

Regarding 2Thes. 2:1-3, it is interesting to note that apparently believers' faith was being shaken
because they expected the Second Coming of Christ to occur very soon, and so 2Pet. 3:8-9 was written,
which also encourages our perseverance some two "Lord's days" later.

Paul also encouraged the Thessalonians by saying that a Great Apostasy accompanied by the appearance
of "the man of sin/son of perdition" will occur first.

I like and agree with linking Paul's prophecy to Matt. 24:4-13, because the events described there
seem to qualify as a great apostasy, although the singular sinful "man" seems to be generalized to include
all of humanity who are anti-Christ. Matt. 24:12 certainly seems to summarize the spiritual situation.

I believe the great falling away is happening now and gaining momentum each day.

2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

2Ti 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2Ti 2:17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
2Ti 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

In Matthew 24 Jesus is speaking do not be deceived by the world and the antichrist so they do not lose their soul.

In 2 Thessalonians 2 it is not do not be deceived by the world and antichrist but do not be deceived when the second coming of Jesus happens for some people preach it falsely.

If they give a premature time and it does not happen it might overthrow the faith of some people and they stop believing because they thought the Bible concerning it is not true or they missed it.

Also the falling away is not the Church for the Church can never fall away for the gates of hell cannot prevail against the Church.

It does not matter how many hypocrites the Church can never fall away and the hypocrites are part of the world.

The falling away is the condition of the world in response to the Gospel that they stopped the Gospel of Christ from being preached in the world with all nations governments enforcing it.

Which allows the man of sin to rule over them.

As long as one nation allows the Gospel to be preached it would not be the end.

So it is a falling away of the world not allowing the Gospel to be preached all nations governments in favor of it.

The falling away will happen and then the man of sin will claim to be God and the saints are not to be deceived that the resurrection will happen before that time.

Which people preach it will happen before that time and it will overthrow the faith of some people.

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

That is the falling away first when the transgressors come to the full after stopping the Gospel of Christ from being preached which cause the antichrist to be able to deceive them.

Good point. God's method of conversion is persuasion, whereas His enemies employ coercion,
which makes Matt. 24:14 intriguing.
