OK guys, truce already...

first of all there was never any expectation that food laws were for gentiles. if I'm wrong, show me where. there's plenty of laws where it doesn't matter if it's a whole country or your brother just grab a stone and get busy, but then there are things like finding a torn animal and giving it away, and also when Jesus addressed the people for the parable part, he addressed the multitude

the food laws are an example of the natural order of life, and not to be dismissed just like that, however....so it's more a matter of does it apply to you.

Also, I'm pretty sure we don't need to ask God to bless our food. We have food because he blessed us, the food needs no blessing, because it all ends up in the same place. We do need to receive it in thankfulness, and we need to remember the Lord in our satisfaction, lest we forget ourselves, so it is seen mostly that people say thanks to God during or after the meal (and really, if you're poor, or hungry, or know a good cook, or there's plenty, or you love God, you may just naturally pray as you finish your meal -even non-believers do this lol)

That doesn't mean that the animals are clean, nothing changed in the animals. the cleanness of animals points to agricultural things, how to protect from abusing the Earth, and how to treat animals and keep them, and how to kill them. It doesn't just have to do with eating and the passage doesn't have to be about hand washing or not, because it doesn't address any of this other stuff let alone eating bacon.

However, I don't see food laws effecting gentiles, so unless your mother's a Jew I wouldn't worry about it for now. The laws can be fulfilled, they can be completed, they can totally not apply to you, but they can't pass away, and Jesus seems pretty unimpressed with them being made of no effect too.

Numbers 15:15-16, "One ordinance shall be for you of the congregation, and for the stranger who sojourns with you, as an ordinance forever throughout your generations. As you are, so shall the stranger be in front of Yahweh. One Law and one manner shall be for you and for the stranger who asojourns with you."

Romans 2:10 But glory, honor, and peace to every
man who works righteousness: to the
Yahdai first, and also to the Greek.
11 For there is no respect of persons
with Yahweh.
12 For as many as have sinned without
the Law, will also perish without the
Law, and as many as have sinned in the
Law, will be judged by the Law

Romans 9:6-8, "However, it is not as though Yahweh's plan had failed. For it is not everyone who is a descendant of Israyl who belongs to Israyl. Nor, just because they are his descendants, are they all Abraham's children; but: In Isaac will your seed be called. That is, it is not those who are the children of the flesh who are Yahweh's children; but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's seed."

Psalm 105:6-9, "O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Yaaqob, His chosen ones! He is Yahweh our Father! His judgments are in all the earth. He has remembered His covenant forever, the Law He commanded for a thousand generations; Which He made; ratified, established, with Abraham, and vowed by His oath to Isaac. He confirmed it; let it stand, to Yaaqob for a Law, and to Israyl for an everlasting covenant."

Galations 3:28,29, "Is there not the Yahdai as well as the Greek; Gentile? Is there not the slave as well as the freeman? Is there not the male and the female? For all of you must be in unity in Yahshua Messiah. And if you are in Messiah, then you are a seed of Abraham, heirs according to the promise."

Psalam 89:26-37, "He will call out to Me; You are my Father, O Yahweh! You are the Rock of my salvation! And I will make Him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast with Him. And I will establish his Seed forever, and his throne will be as the days of heaven. Should his children forsake My Law, and refuse to walk in My judgments; Should they profane My statutes, and fail to keep My commandments; Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with lashes from the whip. Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly withdraw from him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness. My covenant I will not break, nor will I change what has gone out of My lips. Once for all, I have vowed by My holiness--I cannot lie, and I say to David: His Seed will endure forever, and his throne will endure before Me like the sun. His throne will be established forever like the moon: the faithful witness in the sky."

Actually some Chinese are very wealthy. Politicians are among the wealthiest in China but that does not mean that Chinese are wealthy. Most live in dire poverty. The gap between rich and poor is very wide in China.

I assume you are mentioning dog meat for its shock value and to insult those of us who are free to eat freely of any food we wish. What do you consider worse, dog meat or grasshoppers? Grasshoppers are kosher. Since you claim to eat Kosher, why not have a plate full?

Originally you said:
A Chinese proverb states "The Chinese eat anything with four legs and anything with wings except airplanes". However, meat is not eaten daily in China as it is expensive. The average Chinese worker makes 50 to 75 cents a day and even veggies and rice are expensive for them. Pork and Chicken are mostly eaten in China but they will eat whatever they can buy.
Then you probably did a little bit of research and quoted Nytimes which said the lowest income in China is $1600 a year which translated to $4.38 a day (divided by 365 days) or $6.15 (divided by 260 days). Do you see how far off you have been?
Now if only you invest a little more time researching on clean and unclean....
Regarding dog meat, I don't quote it with the intention to insult but rather illustrate how bias the idea of freedom to eat whatever is.
In the Bible Yahweh says both pig and dog are unclean and are detestable for the Israelites, whom He chooses among all nations and establishes a covenant of love with, to eat.
In North America pig is considered clean and is considered food while dog is considered unclean and is not considered food solely because of culture as there's no law against the eating of dogs.
In China both pig and dog are considered clean and are considered food again solely because of culture.
The freedom to eat whatever is based on culture and culture has it that Yahweh's children do not eat the unclean because He says so.

I wonder what God thinks of our talk here! I think it has been a good talk, not unwholesome at all. I have had to get out my bible, and carefully listen. We have struck on some pretty fundamental issues. God doesn't watch the food we eat, God watches our heart. What we do reflects our heart. So we have asked ourselves if God meant us to listen in as God spoke to the Hebrews, training them to lead us or not listen at all for was it not for us? What does God mean for us to eat as food, and does it have spiritual implications. Or how did Christ's coming affect us, and why did the early apostles insist they should not be required to teach the physical things God had instructed to be done as reflecting the spiritual, and how are we to look at them. Are we asked not to do them, consider it as a bad thing to do them, or was it only that they weren't to be taught.

I don't think this thread settled any of those questions at all, but I think it was important that we all thought them over.

There is a list of things that are considered unclean in the old covenant laws, and food was included. I'm convinced myself that the Word of God says that all foods are clean, even the pig. What defiles a person is the evil that produces out of the heart of a man, not what goes into a man.
All things are clean? Nightshade mushrooms? Poison dart frogs? Giant cane toads? Either all things are clean or not. Which is it?

Good joke, but on the serious side, what do we think this is really speaking to?

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

What meats have been CREATED to be received and what great universal church prohibited them on Friday?

OK, consider this...

Gen 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

Clean and unclean was well known prior to the flood. God did not have to instruct Noah about what clean and unclean meant. As far as Gentiles go, there wasn't an Israelite in sight. This was at least a thousand years before the first Israelite ever lived yet they knew aobut clean and unclean.
