Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

I know, which is why I said as much. So He died for all without distinguishing between believer and unbeliever but that is not excepting anyone because there is a third group??? Actually it is for me. If it were not for the Lord I might have good reasons not to get out of bed so I warmly...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Why on earth do you think that agreeing with the truth (believing) has some magical power to create reality? You believing the sun will rise does not make it rise. You believing it will rain when the skies are grey does not make it rain. Our believing does nothing to alter the situation. The...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Really? 1Jn.5:19 19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. Based on your interpretation of this passage and applying it to the verses I quoted earlier, we will have to assume Christ died for the wicked and not for believers at all for you are...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Really, you need to go there? He died for the "kosmos" Cameron, not a select few. John 1:29 1John 2:2 1John 4:14 There is no doubt in my mind when John uses kosmos he is referring to the whole world. If John thought Christ was only the Saviour of the Elect, it would have been very easy for him...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

I don't see what this has to be with the definition of authority but ... They're living in countries God defined by His permissible will. The story of Balaam reveals God's will and way of working. There is what God wants done. Num.22:12 There is what God allows to be done. Num.22:20 & 35 There...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

People constantly talk about God doing this or doing that but never explain how. How does He harden someone's heart? And He doesn't rely on man's free will, He incorporates it.

Only if you don't understand authority or freedom. :)

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

I agree. It seems to me the only way freedom can exist is because of authority. No authority results in chaos not freedom ergo, only absolute authority can result in absolute freedom.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

I don't think he had an excuse, it's a turn of phrase to ask what reason did he have to sin. We have a sin nature and are spiritually dead and while that guaranteed we would sin, it still is no excuse but is a reason as to why it is inevitable. Adam sinned without all that. I pointed it out to...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

The irony is that they will recognise the "truth shall set you free" but when God comes to us in grace and truth it just isn't quite enough to set the will free so it can choose for itself, God always has to do more. Go figure. :)

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Not true. We simply understand that the Potter isn't making the clay, He is working with the clay He has. In the same way the Lord is not choosing who believes and who doesn't but is choosing what He will do with the believers while patiently enduring the rejection of unbelievers.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Yes but you didn't explain Adam's excuse for sinning. The fact Adam sinned of his own free will shows the model of God's creation and therefore to ignore the fact that God comes to us in grace and truth ( Jn.1:14 ) enabling our bound will to be free for the purpose of responding to the Gospel...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

The problem with that is that man (ie. each individual) did not cause this self destructive behaviour, we have Adam to thank for that and he wasn't created with one so what was his excuse? It also doesn't explain how Paul can desire to do what is right and good when in an unsaved state. Romans...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

We're not talking about becoming a slave of righteousness, you need to be in a saved state for that to happen. We are talking about hearing the Gospel so one can choose of their own free will to accept or reject the truth of God. Man's will is bound to sin which is why God meets us with grace so...
